Considerately Cotters 2018 - 17 March

Posted by Simon Cotterill on 19/03/2018 14:09

Dear All
With the league season a mere 5 weeks away, the snow falling and the temperature creeping up to 1C I thought I would update you on a few matters.

Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the “Covers” Fund. The response has been overwhelming and is very much appreciated. We are just waiting to hear from a couple of grant applications but are very hopeful of being able to purchase the covers in time for the start of the season.

Congratulations go to Rob Smith and the lovely Jo on the birth of their baby daughter Mireya Evelyn Youth Smith in January. Also to Stu and Gaby Taylor in the birth of Stanley  Taylor earlier this month.

It is with much sadness that a great friend of the Club Richard Bannister sadly passed away following a brave fight against Motor Neurone disease at the end of January. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout in church and the wake was held at the Cricket Club afterwards.

Roger Bolstridge is taking part in the London Landmarks half marathon on 25th March to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK following the sad death of a mutual friend, work colleague and cricketer from the disease,  RIchard Roddis in January at the young age of 50. If you would like to donate please follow the link or contact Roger.   https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/roger-bolstridge

Junior nets at the Arc and Women & Girls Training at the Whitworth have gone well during the past few weeks.

There is a net session on Sunday 18 March at the ARC from 4-5pm for seniors and anyone aspiring to play senior cricket this year at a cost of £3.

Next Saturday sees the return of the very popular Cricket Force to get the club and ground ready for the start of the season. Any hands and feet would be much appreciated as there is lots to do. Meet 9.30 am at the Club.

Many thanks to all the Vice Presidents who have renewed for 2018 with a reminder that the VP lunch will be Sunday 8th July during the Club’s match with the MCC.

Thanks to all the sponsors who have kindly agreed to support the Club again in 2018 we really do appreciate your support.

Players subscriptions are now due £50 for over 18 and £25 for under 18 and/or unwaged. These can be paid in cash by cheque or direct to account.

We are delighted to be hosting our first ever Womens softball festival on Sunday 24th June - more details to follow.

We have a delicious bottled beer offering “Darley Gold” for your delectation this season. First packs have just come off the production line at Brampton Brewery and can be ordered via Mr James Horton at a bargain price of £27.50 for 12.

On Easter weekend Saturday and Sunday we will again be hosting the prestigious Archery tournament, which was so popular and successful last year. You are most welcome to pop down and see some impressive shooters in action.

David Lane celebrates his 60th, oh sorry 50th year as a Nottingham tram stop on 31st March congratulations to the knot and welcome to Darley over 50s Club !

That’s all for now folks.
