Women and girls cricket in Darley Dale continues to grow and promises to be even better in 2018.

It all began with several successful “have a go” sessions in the summer of 2017

Our efforts were rewarded when we were nominated to be one of five clubs in Derbyshire to receive funding for the development of women and girls cricket as part of the Women’s World Cup 2017 legacy activity.

Our very own Charlotte Horton ran a series of indoor sessions in the Autumn which culminated with participation in a softball festival in Allestree in December.

Everyone taking part agreed it was a fantastic event and really couldn’t wait for the next opportunity to smash the ball about or shatter the stumps.

And so onto 2018 and the continued growth of women and girls cricket in Darley Dale.

There will be more sessions at Station Road during the summer when we will host our first ever Women’s Softball Festival in Darley Dale featuring two or maybe even three teams playing against teams from around the county.
